Excessive Sweating

Excessive sweating is embarrassing. I know for sure what it's like. What makes it even more embarrassing is that many people will simply assume that you have poor hygiene and probably don't shower enough, or don't use a deodorant or anything like that. People repeatedly made fun of my, shouting that I "sweat like a pig". To make matters worse - that actually was how I really felt!

Not only did I suffer from excessive sweating, I also blushed easily, and people used to call me "tomato head" too. Now, please don't get a wrong impression here. I wasn't some kind of freak, I had friends, I had a girlfriend and a social life. But it was annoying to me nonetheless, and I often dreaded social situations - even when I tried to "cover it up" and "play cool".

But I don't want to write an autobiography here. The point I am trying to make is that I know how much embarrassment and shame can hide behind such a clinical name as "hyperhidrosis". And the good thing is: there IS a cure! There probably are several cures, but there's one that I know of and that worked for me.

I'm talking about Mike's method. I have to admit - I did not follow it to the point. For example, I am not using the deodorant he recommends. But it still works for me.

There are many possible causes of excessive sweating, and I dabbled around with them for a while. But I really do believe that they are not that important for most people who suffer from excessive sweating if you simply follow the step-by-step method to stop excessive sweating.

However, I understand that we have a desire to "know" what's going on with our bodies - I surely had it when I was still sweating. That's why I want to make clear that one cause of excessive sweating seems to be genetic predisposition. And I have to say I really hate that explanation in general, because the only thing you can do with that kind of answer is: "So what?" It has kind of gotten an easy answer for "experts" to not have to say "I don't know." If they say "It's genetics", then somehow we assume that really is an explanation. But just because there is a genetic disposition in some people towards hyperhidrosis, that does not mean that you simply have to live with it. There are things you can do. Another common factor of hyperhidrosis is diet. The foods that you eat can influence how much you sweat, and what your sweat will smell like. So if you have body odor, you definitely want to look at your diet.

There are all kinds of treatments for excessive sweating, from antiperspirants to oral medication, to iontophoresis, to ETS surgery (I never tried that, and I hope you will not try it either!), to botox injections and natural cures.

For me, I think natural cures are the best way, specially when you consider that they are pretty much risk-free, will help you to stop excessive sweating in less than a month in most cases and are also a lot more affordable.
